Kokomo's Island Cafe is a theme restaurant set in a tropical setting
Escape to paradise at the Kokomo Island Cafe Mall of America.
This Caribbean theme restaurant has two rather large Tiki God statues guarding the entrance. Once inside you'll notice it's decorated like a brightly colored island bungalow. The mastermind behind Kokomo's Island Cafe is none other than Famous Dave Anderson the BBQ rib guy (Famous Dave's is right next door to Kokomo's). I guess after conquering ribs Dave set his sights on Caribbean cuisine, and after eating their, I would say he did a heck of a good job.
The food at Kokomo's is excellent, the coconut shrimp is the best I ever had, and not too mention the other entries like fish tacos, and spicy Caribbean steak. For the more conservative Kokomo's also serves a variety of "mainland" dishes as well. Kokomo's also has a full bar so you can sip brightly colored tropical drinks graced with umbrellas, or imported beer while the calypso music plays in the background. A typical meal at Kokomos Island Cafe will run between $10 and $20, and for that you get a great meal in a fun atmosphere.
